# General

> General settings in Airtool 2.

Use General settings to adjust how *Airtool 2* performs Wi-Fi traffic captures, choose the location to save capture files, configure file limits and rotation, and more. To change these settings, click on the *Airtool 2* menu bar extra and choose *Settings*, then click General.

| Launch capture in | Choose to launch the capture in [Wireshark](https://www.wireshark.org) (if installed). See [Do live captures with Wireshark](/airtool2/do-live-captures-with-wireshark). |
| Limit each capture to | Choose to limit captures by size, time or number of frames. |
| Capture files location | Choose the default location to save capture files or whether you want *Airtool 2* to prompt you to choose the location for each capture file. Capture files can be saved locally or uploaded to a cloud service. See [Integrate with cloud services](/airtool2/integrate-with-cloud-services). |
| Files per capture | Choose the number of files to be generated per capture session (see *Limit each capture to*). |
| Rotate capture files | Choose to rotate capture files when generating multiple files per capture session. |
| After saving capture file | Choose what to do after a capture file is saved: **•** *Do nothing*<br />**•** *Automatically open file in*: open the capture file in an external application of your choice.<br />**•** *Run command*: run a command to post-process the capture file. Use `%F` to specify the capture file's path — for example, the command `open %F` opens the capture file using the default application for handling capture files.<br />**•** *Save output to text file*: available when using *Run command*, saves the command's output to a file ending in *.txt* with the same name and folder as the capture file. |
| Show capture complete notification | Choose to be notified when a capture is complete. |
| Show device ready notification | Choose to be notified when an external device is ready for capturing. |
| Status icon | Choose to display the current channel and channel width next to the *Airtool 2* menu bar extra. |
| Automatically check for updates | Choose to automatically check for updates and how often to check. |
