# Set the location for capture files

> Configure where Airtool 2 saves capture files.

Capture files are automatically saved to your Desktop using the *pcap* format and the following naming convention: ***airtool\_yyyy-MM-dd\_hh.mm.ss.a.pcap*** — for example, ***airtool\_2024-01-15\_03.45.22.PM.pcap***.

You can change the default location for capture files by choosing the *Airtool 2* menu bar extra > *Settings* > *General* and selecting a different location.

You may also have *Airtool 2* ask where to save the file after each capture by selecting **Ask for each capture** under **Capture files location**.

<Note>
  If you have configured *Airtool 2* to generate multiple files per capture, *Airtool 2* will ask you to choose the capture files' location *before* the capture starts.
