# Read and display data from capture files

> Import and display Wi-Fi network data from capture files in WiFi Explorer Pro for Windows.

*WiFi Explorer Pro for Windows* can display the capabilities and configuration of Wi-Fi networks found in capture files. You can import `.pcap` and `.pcapng` capture files.

When you import a capture file, *WiFi Explorer Pro for Windows* looks for beacon and probe response frames to find Wi-Fi networks and retrieve capability, configuration, and historical signal strength information.

The capture file must include valid [Radiotap](https://www.radiotap.org) link-layer (pseudo) header information for *WiFi Explorer Pro for Windows* to successfully import the file and create a list of scan results for Wi-Fi networks.

## Import a capture file

1. Go to *File* > *Open*.
2. Choose the capture file you want to import.

<Tip>
  You can also drag & drop a capture file into *WiFi Explorer Pro for Windows*.
</Tip>

If the capture file doesn't contain any beacon or probe response frames, then *WiFi Explorer Pro for Windows* will show no network information.
