# Update the vendor database

> Keep the vendor database up to date in WiFi Explorer Pro for Windows.

The vendor database resolves an access point manufacturer's name from the Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI) portion of the BSSID, also known as the Company ID. New registrations are added to the vendor database as manufacturers create and distribute new products.

Each time you open *WiFi Explorer Pro for Windows*, the app checks for vendor database updates, but no more than once every 24 hours. If an update is available, *WiFi Explorer Pro for Windows* asks for permission to download it, unless **Automatically download and update database** is selected, in which case it updates the database without asking.

## Disable automatic check for database updates

1. Go to *File* > *Settings* > *Advanced*.
2. Clear **Automatically check for updates**.

## Manually check for database updates

1. Go to *File* > *Settings* > *Advanced*.
2. Click **Check Now**.
