# Import data from external programs

> Import Wi-Fi scan data from mobile apps into WiFi Explorer Pro 3.

You can import data in CSV format from specific mobile applications that can be used for Wi-Fi scanning, including Apple's [AirPort Utility](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/airport-utility/id427276530) (iOS), [Analiti](https://analiti.com) (Android), [Aruba Utilities](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arubanetworks.arubautilities\&hl=en_US\&gl=US) (Android), and [7Signal's Mobile Eye](https://www.7signal.com/products/mobile-eye), and display the scan results in *WiFi Explorer Pro 3*.

  When importing scan results from these mobile applications into *WiFi Explorer Pro 3*, many of the columns and fields will be blank since the data from the results is very limited and doesn't include all the information that can be normally retrieved from a scan.

The number of columns in *WiFi Explorer Pro 3* that can be populated from CSV data varies between mobile applications:

## AirPort Utility

Apple's [AirPort Utility](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/airport-utility/id427276530) for iOS includes a Wi-Fi scanner you can use to scan for nearby networks from your iPhone or iPad. Scan results include the following fields: BSSID, SSID, channel, RSSI, and a timestamp.

AirPort Utility offers different ways to share the scan results, including AirDrop, Mail, and Copy. You can choose any of them to import the results into *WiFi Explorer Pro 3*.

If you have macOS [Handoff](https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/apple/how-copy-paste-between-mac-iphone-3659951/) enabled, the easiest way to import the scan results from AirPort Utility is by using copy and paste. Just tap the share icon, choose *Copy*, switch to *WiFi Explorer Pro 3* on your Mac, and choose *Edit* > *Paste*, or press ⌘+V.

Similarly, if you choose to share the scan results by using the Mail option, open the email message, select and copy the message's content by pressing ⌘+A, ⌘+C and then paste it into *WiFi Explorer Pro 3* with ⌘+V. Any signatures or footer information found in the email is ignored, so you don't need to worry about that.

If you choose AirDrop, open or drag & drop the text file into *WiFi Explorer Pro 3*. The same can be done if someone sends you a file containing the results. Just make sure the file's name has the `.txt` or `.csv` extension.

  When importing scan results from AirPort Utility, the date portion of the *First Seen*, *Last Seen*, and *Seen* columns in *WiFi Explorer Pro 3* will show *January 1, 2000*. The time field found in the scan results from AirPort Utility only specifies the time of the day.

## Analiti, Aruba Utilities, and Mobile Eye

[Analiti](https://analiti.com) and [Aruba Utilities](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arubanetworks.arubautilities\&hl=en_US\&gl=US) are two popular Wi-Fi analyzers for Android. [7Signal's Mobile Eye](https://www.7signal.com/products/mobile-eye) is a Wi-Fi performance agent for mobile devices.

You can import data from these applications by exporting the scan results as a CSV file and then opening the file in *WiFi Explorer Pro 3*. You can also drag & drop the CSV file into *WiFi Explorer Pro 3*.

  If the scan results are sent to you on an email, you can also copy the contents (⌘+C) and paste them (⌘+V) into *WiFi Explorer Pro 3*.

  There is no historical signal strength information available when importing data from Analiti, Aruba Utilities, or Mobile Eye.
