# Update the vendor database

> Keep the vendor database up to date in WiFi Explorer Pro 3.

The vendor database resolves an access point manufacturer's name from the Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI) portion of the BSSID, also known as the Company ID. New registrations are added to the vendor database as manufacturers create and distribute new products.

When you open *WiFi Explorer Pro 3*, the app checks for vendor database updates once a day. If an update is available, *WiFi Explorer Pro 3* asks for permission to download it, unless **Automatically download and update database** is selected, in which case it updates the database without asking.

## Disable automatic check for database updates

1. Go to *WiFi Explorer Pro 3* > *Settings* > *Advanced*.
2. Clear **Automatically check for updates**.

## Manually check for database updates

1. Go to *WiFi Explorer Pro 3* > *Settings* > *Advanced*.
2. Click **Check Now**.
