You can use Airtool 2 to capture Wi-Fi traffic using a WiFi Coconut. The WiFi Coconut is a wireless device featuring an array of 14 802.11 Wi-Fi radios that you can use to simultaneously capture Wi-Fi traffic from all 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi channels. The WiFi Coconut also supports capturing Wi-Fi traffic from a single 2.4 GHz channel. As with other types of captures, Airtool 2 features such as capture size limits, file rotation, and live captures are available when capturing Wi-Fi traffic using a WiFi Coconut.

Requirements

Airtool 2 uses the WiFi Coconut tools to capture packets from the WiFi Coconut. Install the WiFi Coconut tools as indicated in the WiFi Coconut User’s Manual if you haven’t already. To verify that the WiFi Coconut tools are correctly installed, open Terminal and type:
If you get the message command not found: wifi_coconut, then the WiFi Coconut tools are not installed or cannot be found. For more information about installing the WiFi Coconut tools, see Installing the WiFi Coconut tools.
Airtool 2 does not support multiple WiFi Coconut devices and will only use the first WiFi Coconut connected to your Mac.

Capture all 2.4 GHz channels simultaneously

  1. Connect the WiFi Coconut to your Mac.
  2. Go to the Airtool 2 menu and choose Capture WiFi Coconut > All Channels.

Capture a single 2.4 GHz channel

  1. Connect the WiFi Coconut to your Mac.
  2. Open the Airtool 2 menu and choose the desired channel from Capture WiFi Coconut.
