By default, WiFi Explorer Pro 3 presents the scan results as a flat list of networks sufficient for environments where only a few networks or access points are present. However, as the number of access points and networks grows, other options to organize the results might help. WiFi Explorer Pro 3 makes use of various heuristics to provide four different options for organizing the scan results:
  • Organize Networks by Name: networks are grouped by SSID. 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz networks are grouped under the same SSID.
  • Organize Networks by Access Point: networks are grouped by access point. 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz networks created by the access point are grouped under a common BSSID.
  • Organize Networks by Access Point Radio: networks are grouped by access point and band, which means that 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz networks are grouped separately under a common BSSID.
  • Organize Networks by Access Point Vendor: networks are grouped by access point vendor. 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz networks are grouped under the same vendor.
Access point and access point radio groupings are inferred from advertised network data using heuristics. A group does not necessarily represent an authoritative physical-device identity.
When organizing the scan results, the group header row will combine information from the group’s networks to summarize the configuration and different capabilities of the networks inside the group. WiFi Explorer Pro 3 will use the <Multiple Values> placeholder if it cannot combine the group’s network information for a particular field.
To change how networks are organized in the Networks Table, select the desired option from the View menu. Clear the selected Organize Networks By option to present the scan results as a flat list. The Count column in the Networks Table displays the number of networks in a group.
