You can use coloring rules to quickly identify networks that meet specific criteria. For example, you can create a rule that colorizes all networks in the scan results with higher than 30% channel utilization. You can also create a rule that colorizes networks using an overlapping channel in the 2.4 GHz band. Each rule has a name, a (background) color, and a filter. The name allows you to distinguish the rule from other rules. The color is used as the background color for all Networks Table entries that match the rule’s filter. To learn more about filters, see Filter scan results.
WiFi Explorer Pro 3 colorizes a network using the first matching rule when a network matches multiple rules.
WiFi Explorer Pro 3 allows you to group rules into coloring rule sets. Thus, you can define coloring rule sets for specific troubleshooting activities or scenarios. For example, you can create a rule set for designing and validating networks for Apple devices and another rule set for assessing best practices in the 2.4 GHz band.
You can quickly switch between coloring rule sets by going to View > Apply Coloring Rules and choosing the desired coloring rule set. You can also use Option-0 to disable coloring rules or Option-N to enable the Nth coloring rule set.
